Avon Park Correctional Institution Visiting Hours
Those who wish to visit an inmate must first complete a visitation application and obtain approval from the facility. Visitation at the facility occurs on Saturdays and Sundays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Visitors must arrive prior to 2:00 p.m. In addition, visitors may arrive at the facility no earlier than 7:30 a.m. Visitation processing begins at 8:15 a.m.

Avon Park Correctional Institution Directions
To get to the facility, begin on Florida Highway 27 and turn east on Highway 64 at Avon Park. Next, navigate east 10 miles on Highway 64 until the road ceases at the Avon Park Air Force Bombing Range. Avon Park Correctional Institution staff guard the main gate of the prison seven days a week at all hours of the day. The institution is located roughly one mile east of the main gate.

About Avon Park
Avon Park, home to the Avon Park Correctional Institution, is located in Highlands County, Florida, and it is the oldest city in the county. It was named for Stratford-upon-Avon, England. As of the year 2010, the city was home to 8,836 people, 4,162, and 3,337 households. During this period, the city’s racial makeup was as follows: 55.5% white (including 41.3% non-Hispanic white), 28.1% African American, 0.8% Asian, 0.3% Native American, and 4.3% other. In addition, Hispanic people of any race made up 29.2% of the population.
