The Broward County Jail is an 8-story maximum-security facility that was built in 1985. It is designed to house 1,538 inmates and is home to more than 400 staff members. The jail is an all-male facility housing inmates that are either awaiting trial, awaiting sentencing or are currently serving a sentence of one year or less. Some inmates at the Ft. Lauderdale Jail are at risk of escaping, violent, or dangerous. The Main Jail houses approximately 65 juvenile inmates who are being tried as an adult for the crimes of which they are accused. These juvenile inmates live separately from the adult males.

Joseph V. Conte Facility / Broward County Inmate Search

The Joseph V. Conte Facility is an all-male, medium-custody jail facility that primarily houses inmates awaiting trial. It is a direct supervision facility, which means that deputies at the facility are stationed inside the housing units and interact directly with the facility’s inmates. Counseling, recreation, meals, treatment programs, medical care, and counseling are provided within the housing units, which eliminates the need to escort facility inmates to other areas to receive them. North Broward Bureau / Broward County Inmate Search

The North Broward Bureau is a medium-security facility that houses both male and female offenders. In addition, the facility houses female juveniles and female offenders who are in protective custody. The facility is capable of holding up to 1,200 inmates. The facility’s mission is to house and manage the medically infirm, mentally ill, and special needs inmate population. Central Intake Bureau / Broward County Inmate Search

The Central Intake Bureau processes approximately 40,000 yearly arrests from all Broward County law enforcement agencies. In addition to processing Broward County arrests, the bureau is responsible for court activities, pre-magistrate holding, releasing, hospital details, confinement status, and inmate transportation. Further, bureau functions as the pickup and transfer location for custody transfers, inter-facility transfers, and custody releases to U.S. Marshalls, state prisons, court-ordered programs, and other governmental agencies. Paul Rein Facility / Broward County Inmate Search

The Paul Rein Facility opened in February 2004. It was modeled after the Joseph V. Conte Facility in Pompano Beach, and it is a direct supervision jail where employees of the facility work closely with inmates and the movement of inmates is kept to a minimum.

The facility is designed accommodate up to 1,020 inmates in two four-story towers. The Paul Rein Facility houses both male and female inmates in separate areas. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office operates both life skills and substance abuse programs for inmates at the facility. These programs are designed to promote behavior change and pro-social attitudes in an effort to reduce the inmates’ criminal behavior. Jail Visitation Hours

The jail does not allow in-person visitations. All visitation appointments will be conducted via video visit. A request for a video visitation appointment must be made with a minimum of 24-hour notice to the jail.
