Charlotte County Jail
The Charlotte County Jail is a direct supervision facility which means an officer is stationed inside the housing unit with the inmates. Each unit can hold up to 64 inmates, and the jail’s capacity was initially 1074 inmates. The facility can currently hold 608 adult prisoners. The facility uses this conventional approach to cause direct interaction between the inmates and the staff, which helps prevent negative behavior. Jail Visitation Hours / Charlotte County Inmate Search
The current visitation schedule for the jail in Charlotte County, Florida, is as follows:
Monday- Fridays 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM.
Saturdays and Sundays 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
You can schedule an appointment between 7 AM and 7 PM. Visitors must register at least 24 -hours before the inmates visit (including children). You must have a government ID to set up a visit with an inmate. Only four visitors are allowed at a time.

Sheriff / Charlotte County Inmate Search
Sheriff William G “Bill” Prummel Jr. is the current sheriff of Charlotte County of Florida with over 26 years in law enforcement. Prummel started with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. After working his way up and learning most agency areas, he first ran for the public office of Sheriff in 2012.
Prummell has an extensive education in law enforcement. He has a Bachelor of Arts from St Leo University in Criminology with a minor in Psychology. Later he got a Master’s degree from IMPAC University in Business Administration. Additionally, Prummel has a second Master’s degree from American Public University in Criminal Justice and several other educational accomplishments.

According to the 2010 census, the county had 159,978 people and 73,370 households. The population density was 234 people per square mile. 90.05% of the population was white, with only 5.68% of the population being black and 5.76 % Hispanic or Latino. The remaining population was made up of a small percentage of Native American, Pacific Islander, and Asian races.
