About Clay County, Florida / Clay County Jail Roster

Clay County was originally part of Duval County, but it was formed in 1858 to become the county it is now. It is named after Henry Clay who was a United States Senator from Kentucky and later United States Secretary of State.

Later it became popular with the tourist because of its hot springs. Once the railway was rerouted the tourist industry slowed down.

The military opened Camp Blanding on Kingsley Lake where the National Guard developed a 28,000-acre military complex. This facility was used to train 90,000 troops during World War II. Other parts of the county were used to train pilots too. Camp Blanding still is used and operated by the military today.

The county is also home to a correctional facility. It is possible to locate an inmate at the facility by searching the Clay County Jail roster. Click here to view the Clay County Jail roster.
