Opened in 1993, the Hardee County Jail is designed to house 215 juvenile inmates. The jail has 30 cells of varying sizes. It also has an internal courtroom with a CCTV connection to the local courthouse. This helps reduce the need to move inmates from the jail to the courthouse. The jail is open for visitation every day from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. These hours may differ based on the inmate behavior and holidays. Visitation at the facility is free on-site, or visitors can opt for a remote visit for a small fee. All visitors must be approved through www.securustech.net and can visit up to 4 times a week on-site. They are the third highest milk producing county in the state and the fifth highest for commercial citrus production.
