About the County / Lake County Inmate Search

The county was created from parts of Sumter County and Orange County in 1887. It was named aptly because of all the lakes that its border holds. Citrus was the largest industry in the county through the 1950s until the cold wave of 1989 destroyed all the crops. From there land was sold to developers and there was an increase in the urban sprawl. The county is also home to a facility that houses inmates. To conduct a Lake County inmate search, click here.
