About the County / Orange County Court Records
The county is situated in the central part of Florida and is home to the Orange County Clerk of Court. The population was 1,429,908, as of the 2020 US census, making it Florida’s 5th most populated county. Orlando is the county seat. The county is the central county of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The US Census Bureau reported that there is a total area of 1,003 square miles in Orange County; 903 square miles of this is land, and 100 square miles of this is water.
The land which makes up the county was a part of the 1st land to appear from under the Early Oligocene sea 33.9–28.4 million years ago. It was called Orange Island. Rock Spring in the county is a Pleistocene fossil yielding location, which has produced a huge amount of mammals and birds, to include giant sloths, mammoths, camels, and dire wolves dating about 1.1 million years ago.
