The Sarasota County Jail was originally built in 1956 and has since had multiple renovations to add on extra wings to the jail. Typically, there are 140 deputies staffed to watch over the 950 or so inmates in the facility. In addition, the jail offers a total of 76 programs and services for their inmates. Jail Visitation Hours / Sarasota Inmate Search

Before scheduling a visit with an inmate, you should confirm the inmate’s presence at the jail by conducing a Sarasota inmate search here. Visitation hours are as follows:

Internet Visits: 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week.

On-Site Visits: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week.

Jail Visitation Rules

• Electronic devices are not permitted in the visitation areas.

• Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours ahead of time.

• Inmates are given three 50 minute visits per week.

• Visitors must be 18 years or older or accompanied by an adult.

• Visitors’ clothing must be appropriate.

Sheriff’s Office

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is an accredited facility that employs nearly 1,000 people. This number consists of both civilian positions and sworn in employees. Not only does the agency have regular employees, they also have a large number of volunteers from the community. They offer many programs to the community to involve not only the adults but also the youth population. The Sheriff’s Office has proven that they make mental health in their community a priority.
