The Suwannee County Jail is located in Live Oak, Florida. The facility is responsible for the custody, care, and control of those arrested in Suwannee County by the Live Oak Police Department, the local sheriff’s office, and other law enforcement agencies in the state.
The jail houses inmates who are being held without bond, are unable to post bail, are awaiting trial, or are serving sentences of less than one year. The local sheriff operates the facility, which can hold up to 235 inmates. In addition, the jail houses minors who have been adjudicated as adults. Visitation Hours
Before scheduling a visit at the facility, it is advisable to first search the Suwannee County Jail view here to confirm the inmate’s presence. Visitation occurs between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. as follows:
Monday: AA – Male, A – Female
Tuesday: CC – Male, D – Max, B – Female
Wednesday: BB – Male, E – Max, Medical
Thursday: DD – Male, F – Max, C – Juvenile
Friday: EE – Male
Saturday: Work Crew

Visitation Rules
- The facility may search all visitors.
- Each inmate my place four visitors over eighteen years old on his or her visitation list.
- Each inmate may make one name change to his or her visitation list.
- Each inmate may have one two-hour visitation period per week.
- All four approved visitors on an inmate’s visitation list must visit together visitation.
- Switching out of visitors is prohibited.
- Visitors are only allowed to leave the visitation booth to use the restroom. If a visitor leaves the visitation boot to go outside or sit in the lobby, then the visit will be terminated.
- Inmates may not have multiple visitation periods in a single day.
- Persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol are prohibited from visiting the facility. Anyone deemed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during a visit will be removed from the inmate’s visitation list.

Sheriff
Sam St. John is the Sheriff of Suwannee County Florida. He has spent over 36 years working with the Suwannee County Sheriff’s office. He began his career in Suwannee County working as a patrol sergeant. St. John was elected as Sheriff in 2016 and was then re-elected in 2020.

Until August of 2011, the county was a dry county, which means there were no alcoholic beverage sales.
